Big news, Tucson! After 65 amazing years of serving this incredible community as the Assistance League of Tucson, we’re stepping into a bold new chapter.

Say hello to VIVA PIMA! 🎉

Yep, we’ve got a new name, a new vibe, and a renewed energy—but don’t worry, our commitment to the community is stronger than ever. As of May 1, 2025, we’re officially an independent nonprofit, locally rooted and focused entirely on making Pima County thrive.

Why the Change?

This rebrand is more than a makeover—it’s a movement. Think of it as a hometown hero stepping into full power. By saying “adiós” to our national umbrella, VIVA PIMA! is now 100% homegrown and totally Tucson. That means every dollar raised through our thrift store, online shop, grants, and generous donors like you stays right here in the community we love—Pima County—helping kids, teens, and families in our own backyard.

“We’re excited to have the opportunity to rebrand with an image that reflects the spirit, the vitality, and the resilience of the Pima County and the Tucson community,” said Monique Van Sickle, our marketing board dynamo, in an interview with AZPM.

So, What’s New?

Along with our bold new name and logo (which we love), we’ve refreshed the look of our programs and shop to reflect out exciting new direction. Introducing a few:

• VIVA PIMA! KIDS – Providing new uniforms or school—appropriate clothes so every child walks into class with confidence.
• VIVA PIMA! TEENS – Developing future community leaders by cultivating leadership, empowerment, and civic responsibility through volunteer work.
• VIVA PIMA! SHOP – Generating funding for all this vital work—while doubling as a treasure trove for shoppers.

We celebrated this exciting transformation with a ribbon-cutting at our thrift store on North Alvernon Way. The energy? Unmatched. The community support? Overwhelming. And we’re just getting started.

With more than 300 passionate volunteers donating over 55,000 hours each year, we’re not slowing down. We’re doubling down.
