Meet Nicola Hartmann, VIVA PIMA!’s First Executive Director

I am truly honored to serve as VIVA PIMA!’s first Executive Director.

Throughout my nonprofit career, I have connected with this organization many times, primarily through its Supplies program. I have seen how practical support can help our neighbors move forward, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to be part of that work.

My Background in Tucson Nonprofit Leadership

My most recent position was as CEO of Sister José Women’s Center. I have also been fortunate to work with several Tucson nonprofits, including Watermark for Kids, Youth On Their Own, San Miguel High School, and Child and Family Resources.

I have dedicated my career to serving our neighbors through nonprofit work. These experiences have shown me how much we can accomplish when organizations, volunteers, and supporters work together.

More Than 40 Years of Calling Tucson Home

As a longtime Tucsonan, I’m a proud University of Arizona Wildcat. I also received my MBA from Thunderbird, the American Graduate School of International Management.

Tucson has been my home for more than 40 years. I raised my family here, including my daughter, who benefited from the Teens program. My connection to this community is both personal and professional, and I care deeply about making it a better place to live.

Discovering the Reach of VIVA PIMA!

Although I knew about VIVA PIMA!’s 65-year legacy of community service, I had not fully understood the range of its work.

The organization partners and collaborates with more than 110 schools, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations. Through our community programs, these relationships help connect people with the resources they need.

I am especially inspired by our volunteers. They generously give thousands of hours to support every aspect of the thrift store, programs, and fundraising. Their dedication makes this work possible.

Listening, Learning, and Supporting Our Team

As the first person to serve in this role, I recognize that my appointment represents a significant change for the organization.

My responsibility is to listen, learn, and support our volunteers and staff. Together, we can build on the organization’s strengths, grow sustainably, and make an even greater impact for our neighbors.

Thank you for supporting our mission. This new chapter would not be possible without you, and I’m grateful to have you with us.

Let’s Get to Know Each Other

I look forward to meeting more of the people who make VIVA PIMA! such a special part of Tucson.

Whether you donate, shop, or volunteer, you have a meaningful place in our work.

Nicola
